Amherst College invites applications for the Assistant to the Chief Equity and Inclusion Officer position.
The Assistant to the Chief Equity and Inclusion Officer is a full-time, year-round position, starting at $25.
06 per hour - commensurate with experience.

Reporting to the Associate Chief Equity and Inclusion Officer, the Assistant to the Chief Equity and Inclusion Officer (CEIO) provides direct administrative support to the CEIO and the division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ODEI).
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
office management for the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion division, administrative and logistical support; event coordination, as well as coordination of meetings and travel; preparation/processing of correspondence, reports and presentations; assistance with special projects; and preparation of materials/reports for board of trustee meetings, annual reports, divisional meetings, etc.
The Assistant effectively communicates across a diverse community, taking care to create an inviting and intentionally inclusive culture for visitors to the office, and also works with ODEI in achieving its vision and mission of equity and inclusion.
Summary of
Responsibilities:
Administrative and Logistical SupportMaintain CEIO calendar including coordinating meetings, travel, and eventsProvide research and information in support of appointments and eventsReview correspondence; track and assist with follow upArrange travel as needed for off-campus conferences and eventsLiaison between the CEIO, ODEI Senior Leadership Team, and inside/outside constituents, effectively communicating with a diverse set of stakeholdersPrepare correspondence, reports, and presentationsAssist the CEIO with preparation of Trustee binder materials for quarterly reports to the Board of TrusteesGather research and benchmarks from other institutions and reports from within the CollegeEvaluate new technologies and applications to improve and optimize administrative support.
For example, learn new techniques and features of existing software products or services, such as Microsoft Office or Google Apps, and seek new applications as needed to complete assigned tasksArrange candidate interviews for various positions within ODEIMaintain confidential documents, reports, and notes for the Chair of the Identity-Based Harm Review TeamProcesses weekly time sheets for ODEI employeesMaintain records, as necessary, in the college's systemsRecord and distribute meeting minutes (CODEI, division meetings, etc.
)Attend monthly finance and operations forum meeting and events coordination meetingOffice ManagementOffice liaison to our diverse faculty, staff, students, alumni, parents, and outside constituentsAnswer telephones and relay messagesTroubleshoot and maintain equipment (computers, copiers, printers, etc.
)Purchase and maintain office suppliesMaintain files including electronic and paperProcess reimbursements and invoices for payment using the college's Workday systemReconcile corporate credit card statementsMonitor budget lines across the divisionMaintain office website, social media, etc.
Serve as first point of contact for a diverse set of visitors to ODEIEvents and Meeting CoordinationCoordinate appointments and travel for the CEIO, and meetings of directors, managers, and other attendeesNegotiate contracts and fees, and if needed, arrange travel/accommodations for speakers and consultantsCoordinate monthly department meetings (division meetings)Coordinate weekly/biweekly meetings with CDEIO and FEIOs, Directors, and others within and outside the division;Coordinate event venues and logistics such as informational opportunities across campusOrganize and execute large and small events for faculty, staff, and studentsCoordinate logistics including venuesPrepare briefings, attendee lists, name tags, publicity, invitations, etc.
Qualifications:
RequiredAssociates Degree, in lieu of a degree, a High School Diploma or equivalent and 5 years of related experience3 years of related experienceCommitment to working with a diverse and inclusive communityAccounting, bookkeeping, or budgeting skillsStrong written and verbal communication and ability to proofread and edit documentsExcellent interpersonal, time management, organizational, and customer service skillsHighly proficient in all Microsoft Office applications and/or Google Apps.
