HR Generalist - Now Hiring
Are you an HR professional with strong Access skills looking to work in an environment where you can make a real difference? In this HR Generalist role, within an academic institution, you will provide guidance and coordination for areas of HR management, including personnel policies, recruitment, and all other personnel actions.
Responsibilities include:
Facilitating recruitment by participating in all aspects of the hiring process Working with hiring managers to develop clear, accurate, and results-oriented job descriptions Preparing all documentation and personnel actions for hiring and personnel changes Maintaining internal tracking list of hires for budgeting and external reporting Keeping timelines for personnel actions related to reappointment, promotion, and tenure.
Interpreting HR policies and procedures and for employees & identifying compliance issues Troubleshooting HR questions and problems independently Providing direction for managers on the probationary period and performance review processes Developing and implementing on- and off-boarding processes Providing consultation on leave policies to employees and managers according to policies, bargaining agreements, and state/federal regulations, including the usage of sick leave bank, FMLA and PFML Reporting & documenting work injuries and analyzing incidents if necessary Staying current on state and federal regulations and ensuring adherence to labor relations and conditions of employment Requirements:
Bachelor's degree plus at least 2 years' broad-based HR experience Demonstrated working knowledge of HR practices, policies and procedures Strong proficiency in Office and in Google Suite Experience in MS Access Excellent written and verbal communication skills Competence to build and maintain relationships with all levels of the organization Ability to work independently with a collaborative mindset HR experience in higher education & union environments preferred PHR or SHRM-CP Certification a plus The HR Generalist is a full-time, contract role (through at least May 2024) in Amherst.
The pay rate is $28 per hour and the work schedule (with hybrid potential) is M-Fri 9am-5pm.
