Assistant to the Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer


Amherst College invites applications for the Assistant to the Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer position. The Assistant to the Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer is a full time, year round position, job group and level AO-5. The Assistant to the Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer (CDIO) provides administrative support to the CDIO and the Director of Inclusive Leadership. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: office management, administrative and logistical support; event coordination, as well as coordination of meetings and travel; preparation/processing of correspondence, reports and presentations; assistance with special projects; and preparation of materials for board meetings.
The Assistant takes appropriate actions to support a diverse workforce and participates in the College's efforts to create a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Office Management

  • Office liaison to faculty, staff, students, alumni, parents and outside constituents.

  • Answer telephones and relay messages

  • Troubleshoot and maintain equipment (computers, copiers, printers)

  • Purchase and maintain office supplies

  • Maintain files including electronic and paper

  • Monitor budgets

  • Process reimbursements and invoices for payment

  • Maintain office website


Administrative Support

  • Maintain CDIO and Director of Inclusive Leadership calendar including coordinating meetings, travel, and events

  • Provide research and information in support of appointments and events

  • Arrange travel as needed for off-campus conferences and events

  • Review correspondence; track and assist with follow up

  • Assist with reports including quarterly report to the Board of Trustees, etc.


Events

  • Organize and execute large and small events for faculty, staff, and students

  • Coordinate logistics including venues

  • Prepare briefings, attendee lists, name tags, publicity, invitations, etc.


QUALIFICATIONS
Required

  • Associates Degree, in lieu of a degree, a High School Diploma or equivalent and 5 years of related experience

  • 3 years of related experience

  • Accounting, bookkeeping or budgeting skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication, and ability to proofread and edit documents

  • Excellent interpersonal, time management, organizational and customer service skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook and ability to learn new software

  • Ability to take initiative, work independently and collaboratively, and to handle multiple priorities while remaining attentive to detail

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
